Erin Maxwell is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with almost two decades of experience supporting immigrant children and their families. At Legal Services for Children, Erin co-directs the Detained Immigrant Children’s Project which provides legal and social work services to unaccompanied children detained in the custody of the Office of Refugee Resettlement. Additionally, she provides clinical case management services to immigrant children residing in the community. Erin believes in the ability of children to direct their legal cases and make important life decisions with the help of supportive adults. Prior to working at Legal Services for Children, Erin worked for Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services advocating on behalf of, and making best interest recommendations for, unaccompanied detained immigrant children and youth and at the Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights Project as a Social Services Coordinator. She obtained her Masters of Social Welfare (MSW) from the University of California, Berkeley in 2006 and has been working with immigrants and refugees both domestically and internationally since that time.
