Join Legal Services for Children in our mission to help youth stabilize their lives and realize their full potential through free legal services.
LSC is a non-profit law office which provides direct legal and social services to San Francisco Bay Area children and youth since 1975. We serve youth who have suffered violence, abuse, or neglect and are at-risk of entering the foster care or juvenile justice systems. The vast majority of our clients are low-income youth of color. LSC provides representation in a variety of civil legal matters, including:
- Dependency (child abuse/neglect proceedings)
- Legal Guardianships
- Education (disciplinary hearings, special education, and language rights)
- Immigration
LSC has a number of internship programs that train students to work with our youth clients on these legal issues. Programs include:
Spring & Summer Legal Internships
Law School Practicum
Certificate in Child Advocacy
Social Work Internships
Other internship opportunities:
LSC hosts college students over the summer through the Summer Search, Dream SF, and Dream Summer programs. During the school year we sometimes have opportunities for college students to volunteer with us. If you are a college student interested in volunteering during the school year, contact Moises Cruz, Operations Director, at Moises@lsc-sf.org.
If you are an attorney interested in volunteering with LSC, click here to go to the Pro Bono Panel page.
