America is proud to be a daughter of Mexican immigrants and first-generation college graduate. She attended undergrad at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas and graduated with her Master’s in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley in May 2022. Over the years America has gained experience working with first-generation college students, youth and Latinx-immigrant populations through mentoring, teaching SEL, and advocating for immigration and education reform. America aspires to open up her own non-profit back home in Texas that serves the Latinx population. In her spare time, she enjoys taking care of her plants, hiking with her highly active dog Joy, live music, thrifting, and trying out new restaurants in the Bay Area.
