Benjamin joins LSC in 2024, having spent 15 years at Legal Advocates for Children & Youth representing youth in Santa Clara County’s juvenile dependency system as their court-appointed counsel. He brings with him a passion for empowering youth to be actively involved in their court cases, and advancing equity and social justice in marginalized communities. To his work in child advocacy, Benjamin brings prior experience advocating for housing rights on behalf of clients identifying as having mental health disabilities. Benjamin has his J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law where he focused on public interest and social justice law, and a B.A. in Social Welfare from UC Berkeley, with an emphasis on Psychology and a minor in Ethnic Studies. He is a resident of San Francisco since 2008 and had a Midwestern upbringing. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his godchildren and friends, reading for pleasure (especially comic books), walking the city, and dining out.
